An inclusive library is more than a wheelchair-accessible building. From physical spaces and signage to programs, policies, and communications, libraries have countless opportunities to create environments where all patrons feel welcome, supported, and able to participate. As awareness of (and regulations about) disability, neurodiversity, and accessibility grow, librarians need practical ways to make their services more inclusive.

This webinar will explore simple, effective strategies for improving accessibility in library spaces and programs. Drawing on best practices, disability research, and real-world library examples, participants will learn how to identify barriers that may prevent patrons from fully engaging with library services. The session will also touch on digital accessibility, particularly how programs and services are promoted online, while maintaining a primary focus on physical spaces and patron interactions.

This webinar will discuss:

  • Common physical, sensory, and social barriers that impact library use
  • Practical ways to make library spaces, collections, and services more accessible
  • Strategies for designing inclusive programs
